Why are they wasting time on this?

‘Don’t say gay’ bill advances in Tennessee, would ban teachers from discussing homosexuality – New York Daily News.

The state of Tennessee is trying to ban teachers from teaching or even talking with students below the high school level  about anything having to do with being gay.  Even if a student happens to be gay or a students parents happen to be gay they still can’t talk about, but they are allowed to talk about being straight.   I got angry when I heard this.  Why are they wasting time on legislating discrimination when there are many more serious problems to take care of.  The country is going broke.  Every state also has financial problems and yet they waste time on this.    This may only be Tennessee right now, but think about it.  If it could happen there it is reasonable to think it can happen anywhere.  We need to keep after our elected officials to stop this kind of nonsense and take care of the real problems.
